SPORTS: In Orange National League-2nd Division, Alex Bedell Ends Goal Drought

The hunt for silverware continues in the Orange National League-2nd Division 2022-2023 league season with enough fire works from teams as the fight continues.

It was a remarkable day for Margibi FC as one of the team oldest player got n the scoresheet for the first time since joining the club.

In Saturday, 29 October fixtures sixteen teams completed Round 11 of the 2nd top-tier league of Liberia the Orange National League-2nd Division. As for Gardnerville FC and Tewor FC, both teams failed to score on Round 11 with both teams suffering a home defeat.

The total of twenty-four goals scored in Round 11 of matches at four venues across the Country. At the open-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata Carter Barkolleh and Alex Bedell goals secured three points for Margibi FC over Ganta Almighty FC.The home team took an early lead in the 38 ‘ minute of the match after several chances missed by the home team to give Margibi FC a 1-0 win at halftime over Ganta Almighty FC.

As the second half resume as both teams received pep talks from the respective technical staffs the visitor puts out a chase with good ball control in the central park of the midfield after the team made/ make an early substitution in the second half of the match. The introduction of Tom Douoie that saw the away team putting in good football displayed through good coordination and communication in the central park of the midfield with accurate ball possession and passes that saw the visitor squandering several chances.

With still much time to end the full match substitute Tom Douoie levelled the score 1-1 in the 84′ minute of the match after a reckless play from one of the back four of the home team Margibi FC. The visitor could have taken the lead for the second time in the second half but failed to do so from a selfish play from one of the team playe, alias “Rashford”.

And with just 6 minutes left to end the full 90′ minutes plus added time, the home team through it caretaker coach Emmanuel kehkeh was able to introduce a new formation enabling the team to secure a compulsory three points with Alex Bedell sensational header in the 90′ minutes from a corner kick gives the home team Margibi FC a narrow 2-1 home win over Ganta Almighty FC.

It was Alex Bedell first goal of the season for his club Margibi FC.The crucial goal marks the former Harbel Athletic player Bedell first goal for his club since he joined the club 5 years back. The win for Margibi FC moves the club to 3rd place on the league table with 21 points from 11 games played thus far in the Orange National League-2nd Division 2022-2023.

The win on Saturday, 29 October at the Zenith football house of Margibi County the opened-air Nancy B.Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata marks the team second win in a row with Margibi FC winning a 4-2 away win over Nimba FC on at Margibi FC was without it head coach Sunday Sieh and tailsman Wurie Barry. As per reports both was serving suspension.

Barry received three (3) yellow cards while head coach Sieh was suspended from the club for administrative reasons as confirmed from one of the team’s official. In another results during the weekend, Legue leader NPA Anchors won a narrow away 1-0 win over Gardnerville FC at the Tusa Field Sports Pitch in Gardnerville. Below is the full results of Round 11.

In addition, Margibi FC will climax the 1st phase to Gardnerville FC in the Orange National League-2nd Division at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata on the 26 at 3:30 PM.
