MONROVIA- To discover young Liberian Talents and create an enabling environment for athletes, the Liberia Football Association has begun the second edition of Beach Soccer National League 2023/2024 aiming at exploring talents for future benefits.

Beach Soccer, which is also called “beasal”, is a sport similar to the association of football but played on a beach or sand. The Beach Soccer is a type of 5-a-side soccer. It is played between two teams with five players each, including the goalkeeper.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony in PHP Community at the Unification Park in Monrovia, the coordinator of the Beach Soccer Program, Clarence Lee Chea used the occasion to express his sincere thanks and appreciation to the defending champions, Sinkor Beach Soccer Football Club for good conduct of good sportsmanship during its 1st Edition and admonishes all participants to do the same as was done by the Sinkor Based Football Club.

According to the LFA Beach Soccer Coordinator, the 2nd Edition of the competition comprises six teams, and all of the participating clubs have passed through the requirements to participate in the National League. He added that the Beach Soccer Program is another integral component of the LFA Development Program.

At the same time, he cautions all supporters and sympathizers to remain calm while representing their respective teams and consider  Liberia as a common denominator because the game of soccer comprises emotional feelings that come along with lots of exciting moments.

Also in attendance to grace the occasion, the chairperson and an Executive Committee Member of LFA, Anthony Deinuka lauded the LFA Boss, Mustapha I Raji and all Executive Committee Members for initiating such an opportunity in Liberia that would give the chance to other young folks to display their skills and calls on all participants to stay safe and observe the rules of the game.

Delivery a special statement as acting president of LFA, Professor Sekou Konneh extends his gratitude to all participants for honouring the 2nd Edition of the Beach Soccer National League at a unique facility to run the program and discover hidden talents for Liberia as he encourages the participating teams to continue, and they should avoid attitudes that would be seen as setbacks.

“We want to understand that this is a serious venture, and there is a need for us to continue and let us be peaceful and exhibit fairness in our decision-making,” Professor Konneh mentioned.
