Samir Kamara Clinched Trophy In His Debut Season, As The Youngster Scooped The Best Coach Award

It is no secret that Samir Kamara has won the admiration of many football supporters across the country and also on the international stage as few online sports platforms have highlighted his excellent performance on the touchline in his debut season of the LFA- Montserrado County District League.

The former Montserrado County District # 11 player Samir Kamara, who was given the mantle of authority to take charge of the football team of District # 11 in this year’s edition, was very much instrumental in helping his team win the first ever District League.

Coach Samir Kamara alias Giovanni Trapattoni was on the touchline as his side defeated District # 16 (6-5) in a post-match penalties shootout, after a one-all draw during the full 90th minutes plus extra 30 minutes on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the ATS on the UN Drive.

The former tactician of Pepper FC and Pepsi Coach Kamara now becomes the first coach to guide the District to its first-ever final and also clinched the Championship.

The former Aries, BYC, LISCR, LPRC Oilers and Watanga FC Kamara started the tournament with a draw in his opening fixture on 1July, when he played District # 4 to a two-all draw at the same venue.

In his second match in charge, he was held to a one-all draw with District # 1 on 9 July at the same venue.

In the Zone’s final group game James Richardson and William Freeman goals sealed a 2-0 win for the boys of District # 11 over District # 17 on 14 July at the same venue.

The win over District # 17 marks the first win for Coach Samir Kamara alias Giovanni Trapattoni as he guided his team to the knockout stage of the tournament.

His side came through as runner-up in a Zone D of four clinching 5 points from three games played winning 1 and 2 draws.

Though Coach Kamara received a red card in the tournament during the knockout stage. But such couldn’t just stop him from winning the Best Coach from such splendid performance from the youngster tactician.

In his team’s first knockout game in the quarterfinals stage, Coach Kamara District # 11 side defeated nearest neighbor District # 12 (2-0) on 19 July and won a convincing 2-0 win over District # 4 in the semifinals to advance to the grand final of the tournament on 23 July at the ATS on the UN Drive.

The remarkable 2-0 win over District # 4 marks the first win over the boys of District # 4 in the tournament as both teams played to a two-all draw in the opening fixture on 1 July at the ATS.

Kamara won the Montserrado District League trophy unbeaten and becoming the first Coach of District # 11 to set such record.

The Cyprus licensed Coach Kamara who could not hide his emotion after scoping such prestigious trophy for his team could not hide his emotions as becoming a district league champion in his debut season with the district as Head Coach.

In a brief conversation with the media, the energetic and outspoken Coach said:

” I am so excited now to be a District League champion, he said after District # 11 received the Montserrado District League trophy.

“Words alone cannot express the joy I feel now, and I hope such continues like this,” Kamara added.

Coach Samir Kamara alias Giovanni Trapattoni team received a symbolic check of LD 150,000.00 as winner of the 2022-2023 LFA- Montserrado County District League.

In other development, two players of Coach Samir Kamara alias Giovanni Trapattoni clinched individuals award.

They are James Gaye Richardson of Global Pharma, who clinched the Most Valuable Player award, while MUSCAT FC goalkeeper Jimmy Dorbor won the Best Goalkeeper award in the tournament.
