Watanga FC is away to the CAF Champions League first preliminary round tie, after departing Liberia early Thursday morning, September 7, 2022.

The Liberian Champions Watanga FC rub shoulder with the Nigerian Profesional Football League Champions River United FC on Sunday, 11 September at the Adokie in Nigeria.

Coach Cooper Sannoh of the Liberia Orange National League Champions Watanga FC named 20- men squad for the club debut appearance in CAF Champions League.

Team tailsman Farsedu Logan with the squad along with former Orange National League-2nd Division outfit club Tony FC player Solomon Zeah, Troko Myers, Carlos Williams, former Championship Club Habiba FC youngster Sheikh Sesay, among others.

The Liberian outfit Club Watanga FC played two games in the new season of the top-tier league of Liberia with a win and a draw.

The Liberian Champions Watanga FC failed to win the 2022-2023 Super Cup on 24 August where the team suffers defeat through penalty shootouts to Petro Trade Cup winner LISCR FC at the ATS after a 1-1 draw at full-time with both teams failing to get on the score sheet after extra time.

The team won the opening fixture of the 2022-2023 Orange National League- 1st Division Season with newly Promoted Club Jubilee FC on 31 August at the SKD PP with a convincing 4-2 win.

Champions  Watanga FC drew a reschedule match which ended 1-1 on 7 September after a goalless draw on the 6 September during the first 26th minutes of play in the Orange National League-1st Division 2021-2022  runners-up Bea Mountain at the same venue dues to a heavy down pour of rain that the game at which time the game was stop by Liberia’s  most cap FIFA Badged Referee Hassan Corneh on at the same venue .

A delegation of 34 left  Liberia on Thursday,  8 September  arrived  in  Lagos, Nigeria during the late hour of Thursday 8 September.

The reigning Champions of Liberia Watanga FC leaves for Port Harcourt early Friday, 9 September.

The first of a two-legged tie in the CAF champions League versus Rivers United FC is   for Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The return leg is schedule for 16-18 September at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, Monrovia.

Liberia Football Association Executive Committee member, Cyrus Yeanay heads the delegation but will be ably assisted by Club President, Atty K. Jlayteh Sayor.
