Youngster James Morris on Thursday, September 15, 2022 got his first start in the second edition of the most watched tournament in Margibi County’s Inter-District League.
The young player, Morris has been in sensational form since last season and up to present has showcased his good goalkeeping scales for District # 3 as his team won a convincing 4-0 win over District # 9 on Thursday, 15 September at the opened-air Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.
Morris was not included in the reigning champions District # 3 starting XI for the opening game on Friday, 9 September at the same venue in a match where his team came from a goal down to win a comfortable 3-1 win over District # 1 in which he was introduced into the match in the second half of the match.
It was the former One Goal Football Academy II goalkeeper and Africa Sports Academy new signing first start of such tournament in which he played a full 90th minutes without conceding a goal.
The youngster Morris won the Best Goalkeeper Award of the 2nd edition of the just ended Mini Mock National County Sports Meet held in Smell No Taste, Lower Margibi where he won 2nd place with Margibi County.
Morris is hoping to get another full start in his team final group stage game on Saturday, 17 September or a later date in fixture involving District # 5.
Morris’ team topped Group A with six points from two games and scored seven goals in two games with his team conceding one in the opening game on Friday, 9 September during the first 45th minutes of play against District # 1.
Morris hopes to win his second trophy with the Boys of District # 3 in which he did not play a major role during the first edition.
Morris started his good goalkeeping with ON GOAL FOOTBALL ACADEMY in Kakata, Margibi County where he played a major part with his team winning the 2019 Under-15 tournament styled MUTAMU meaning Our Cup In Via.
Morris excellent performance during the group stage including the grand final on 26 October at the Antionette Tumban Stadium in Central Monrovia with his side winning penalty shootouts against Center Monrovia Academy with him (Morris) saving over three penalties.
His stunning performance awarded him the Best Goalkeeper Award in the 2019 edition of the MUTAMU Cup.
