SPORTS: Momo Blamo Sets New Record, Becoming The First Player To Register Hat Trick

It was all joy for fans and club officials at the George Weah Technical Center in Careburgs, as Shaita Football Club got on a winning start in the campaign of the Orange National League-2nd Division 2023-2024 League Season.

It was on on Sunday, 10 September, when the Careysburg club’s wonderboy, Momo Blamo scored hat trick to give Shiata FC a convincing 3-1 victory over PAGS FC on match day one at the George Weah Technical Center in Careburgs on Sunday, 10 September.

The fans shared the moment of joy when debutnant Henry Korfeh beautiful assist in the early minute of the first half to Momo Blamo puts the home team in a 1-0 lead in the 4th minute.  But with just over 40 minutes plus left to end the first half, Blamo registered a brace in the 38th minute to give Shaita Football Club a 2-0 half-time win over PAGS FC.

Back from recess Blamo got another goal in the 78 minute to register a hattrick to give his side a 3-0 lead over PAGS FC but will 12 minutes plus added left to end the match the visitor reduced the score to 3-1 in favor of Shaita Football Club.

Blamo hattrick against PAGS FC marks his first for the new season and sixth in the Orange National League-2nd since he moved from third division club FC Quincy of Margibi County.

He has scores on three occasions on PAGS FC since the meetings. He got on the score sheet in the first meeting during the first phase of the 2022-2023 League Season where both teams share points in a three-all-draw. And later on scored during the 3-1 win in the second leg to climax the 2022-223 League Season.

His stunning hat trick on match day one makes him the first player on the domestic scene to register a hat trick in the Orange National- Division 2023-2024 League.

The Margibi County wonderkid, Blamo has been phenomenal since moving in the second division league of domestic league where he has ended the league season with 29 goals as League top scorer and moreover, he is among the final three nominees of the MVP players in the Orange National League-2nd Division.

He received his first call to the Senior Men’s National Team of Liberia the Lone Star where Coach Ansu Fanta Keita selected him among over 25 local players for the CHAN Competition.

And on the other hand Blamo 30 goals in all competition with 29 league goals for club surpassed fellow teammate Abraham Kamara who registered 28 goals to clinch last season Golden Boot Award.

Blamo moves to Shaita Football Club (Tony FC) form Margibi County third division club FC Quincy after scoring 17 goals to clinch the Golden Boot in the LFA-Margibi Sub-Association Third Division 2021-2022 League Season.

His remarkable goalscoring in the LFA- Margibi County third division league helps FC Quincy gain runner-up spot during the 2021-2022 league season and moreover earned his team FC Quincy the first ever National Third Division Regional Playoffs qualifications in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

His goalscoring spree got the attention of Shaita Football Club (Tony FC) as they capture the signature of the former FC Quincy tailsman Blamo as a replacement for Abraham Kamara and James Tarpeh who left for trial abroad.

He made his debut for Shaita Football Club (Tony FC) against Tewor FC at the SKD PP in Paynesville but failed to get on the score sheet.

Blamo recorded his first goal in his debut season against Paynesville FC in his team victory over the Paynesville outfit club.

Blamo will be hoping to scoop two awards for the just-ended season as he is one of the favorites for the MVP in the second division.

Mark Yallah of FC Kallon- Liberia (formerly MUSCAT FC) was the last player to win such accolade since the introduction of such award in the Orange National League-2nd Division.

As for the Golden Boot Award, Abraham Kamara of Shaita Football Club (Tony FC) won the last edition with 28 goals.

Blamo will be hoping to continue such good scoring form as his team battled Discoveries FC on Saturday, 16 September at the George Weah Technical Center in Careburgs on Match Day 2 of the Orange National League-2nd Division.

Shaita Football Club and Discoveries FC got a win in the respective opening games.

Johnathan Freeman’s lone goal sealed Discoveries FC a 1-0 win over Junior Professional at the Tusa Field Sports Stadium in Gardnersville on 5 September while Momo Blamo hattrick fired Shaita Football Club to a comfortable 3-1 win over PAGS FC on 10 September at the George Weah Technical Center in Careburgs.

In another development, Gardnersville FC welcomes Black Man Warrior at the Tusa Field Sports Stadium in Gardnersville on Saturday, 16 September.
