The 2023-2024 edition of the nation’s most prestigious sporting festival the National County Sports Meet already seen some upset regarding one of the knockout games in the quarter finals stage, turning into a theatre for vandalizing the SKD Sports Complex in Payenesville.
It was too embarrassing to see angry crowd of Grand Gedeh destroying the stadium due to poor officiating from center referee Josephus Torjilar at the SKD Sports Complex in Payenesville on Monday, 30 April. The confusion after a goal was disallowed in the final minutes of the extra time, which saw Nimba County defeating Grand Gedeh 4-2 in penalties shootout.
Two of the competition’s previous finalist has already booking a space to the semifinals a win for either side in the semifinals game on Thursday, 2 will see one of team booking a space to the competition.
Lofa , the regining champions in the kickball version booked a space to the semifinals on Sunday, 28 April at the SKD Sports Complex in Payenesville after a 8-2 homes run against Gbarpolu County while in the football category regining champions Nimba County sealed the ticket to the semi -finals on Monday, 30 April at the same venue in penalties shoot out after a two-all-draw during full 90′ minutes with the defending champions Nimba County defeated Grand Gedeh 4-2 in the first post-match penalty shootout in the competition.
In other results, in the kickball version Rivercess County became the first kickball team to book a space to the semifinals of the competition.
The three times champions Rivercess County in the kickball version defeated Grand Gedeh 6-0 on Saturday, 27 April in Payenesville in game one while in games two Nimba County defeated River Gee 7-1 to book a ride to the grand final.
In football, Blamo Weah extra time goal secured a 2-1 win for River Gee against Bong County after a one-all-draw during the full 90′ minutes.
And on Sunday, 28 April in the kickball version at the same venue of the knockout stage of the competition the SKD Sports Complex in Payenesville Bomi County defeated Grand Bassa County 3-0 while defending champions Lofa County defeated Gbarpolu County 8-2 .
In the football version on Sunday, 28 April 2022-2023 runner-up Lofa County defeated Bomi County 2-1 in a well entertaining match while in game one Grand Bassa County defeated Montserrado County 2-1.
James Tarpeh goal from the penalty spot and Jeremiah Johnson second half goals were enough to seal the win for Lofa County against Bomi County while on the other hand Varney Sando and Augustine Dayougar second half goals secured a semifinals ticket for Grand Bassa County against Montserrado County.

The semifinals matches of the 2023-2024 National County Sports Meet will be played at the SKD Sports Complex in Payenesville on the following dates.
