KAKATA, Liberia – Surprise Kickball Club’s hopes of winning both the 2025/2026 Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) Margibi Sub-Association Second Division League and Knockout Championships have officially come to an end following two consecutive defeats this week.
Surprise KC first suffered a 2-0 defeat to Dream Girls KC on Thursday, July 30, at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata, ending their hopes of lifting the Knockout Championship.
Earlier on the same day in league action, United Angels KC were awarded a 5-0 victory and three points after Vision Sisters KC failed to honor their scheduled fixture. It marked Vision Sisters’ third consecutive no-show, a violation of league regulations that resulted in the club’s relegation.
Meanwhile, Future Girls KC kept Buchanan, Grand Bassa County’s hopes of securing a place in the National Playoffs alive with an impressive 3-0 victory over Kamara KC.
League action continued on Friday, July 31, at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium.
Former top-flight champions United Angels KC strengthened their title challenge with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kamara KC. The result was United Angels’ first win over Kamara since the start of the 2025/2026 league season.
The victory lifted United Angels to the top of the standings with 24 points from 13 matches, having recorded seven wins, three draws, and three defeats.
In the day’s second match, Surprise KC endured another disappointing result. Despite taking an early 1-0 lead against Future Girls KC, they were unable to hold on as Future Girls mounted an impressive comeback to claim a 3-1 victory.
The win moved Future Girls KC into sixth place with two matches remaining, keeping alive their hopes of securing a National Playoff spot for Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
For Surprise KC, the defeat ended any remaining hopes of winning the league championship, with the club dropping to fifth place on the table.
Despite moving to the top of the standings, United Angels KC have not yet secured the league title. The club must defeat Future Girls KC in their final league fixture next week while also hoping that third-placed God’s Favor KC fail to collect the maximum six points from their remaining two matches.
Should God’s Favor win both games, United Angels’ championship hopes could still be denied.
The league will take a one-day break on Saturday, August 1, before resuming on Sunday, August 2, at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.
Sunday’s fixtures include:
2:00 p.m. – Dream Girls KC vs. Kamara KC, with Dream Girls aiming to strengthen their push for a National Playoff place.
4:00 p.m. – God’s Favor KC vs. Surprise KC, as God’s Favor seek to keep their league title hopes alive heading into the final round of the season.
