SPORTS: Top Liberian Female Goal Scorer Urges Liberian Players To Be Focused

Monrovia- Liberia Upper Women’s League and Ambassador Top Goal Scorer, Edwarline Jackson, alias “Deco” is calling on Liberian Female players to focus, perform and be prepared to compete both locally and internationally.

Little Jackson, who is the leading goal scorer in the top Women’s League in Liberia, plays both as midfielder and striker, scoring a total of 20 goals in 13 appearances.

She encourages all female players to build the mentality of perseverance in their soccer career.

The Female Top goal scorer gave the advice recently when she spoke in an interview with the Journalists at the Tusa Sports Pitch in Gardnersville near Monrovia.

The young female star cautioned Liberian players to concentrate in every area of their soccer career, noting that performance comes with good rewards under the leadership of the FA President Mustapha Raji when players are now awarded car all because of their performance and good conduct.

Top goal scorer “Deco” further mentioned that Liberians should not sit and allow foreign players to make headways in the league consistently while they are here because the league is purposely organized for Liberian talents to be explored to the outside world though foreign players are allowed to play.

But she said Liberians should make maximum use of the opportunities, and not sit back and allow foreign players to dominant the league as done by the Guinean Striker Bountu Sylla who is the Most Valauble Player in Womens Upper Division League and currently plays for Defending Champions, Determine Girls.

The in-form attacking midfielder and striker has assured supporters that she will take the lead to raise the flag of Liberia in the Women’s League as she promises to maintain her consistency so that Liberian Female players will have a reflection of motivation from the Liberia Football Association so that she would be the next winner of LFA gesture toward the improvement of Football in Liberia.

The young female striker explains that foreign players are coming into the League and they are making headway, getting several opportunities outside Liberia, adding, Liberian Players can do the same because they are not better than Liberian Players. But she added that if Liberians should achieve their dreams, they must remain focus, perform and exhibit good conduct while working toward their soccer career.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador Top Goal Scorer has praised the Administrative and Technical arms of the club for affording such a golden opportunity that today she is the club leading scorer in the 2022/2023 League Season, citing that scoring will not only be her concern but to ensure that the club is crowned champion.

“We should not sit and allowed foriegn players to take awards and winners. We can do better and win cars too. My words are not about destructive jealousy but constructive. Henceforth, I have decided to take the lead so that others will follow my steps. We need to show them we have potential even than those foreign-based players,” top goal scorer Edwarline Jackson stated.

Her total goals scored have contributed to the club’s success since the season, and the club sit at the top of the Women’s League Table with 34 points from 13 league games so far.

She has also cautioned the playing body to remain focused and be consistent in every match and build the mentality of success in football.
