U.S. President Donald Trump and Iran have mentioned the possibility of reaching a peace agreement while simultaneously engaging in a propaganda battle through social media and street propaganda.

Trump stated on his Truth Social account on the 23rd that negotiations with Iran are “currently in the final coordination phase,” but prior to this, he posted a map of Iran covered in the U.S. flag. The post included the caption, “United States of the Middle East?” This phrase, likening the U.S. to the “United States of America,” was interpreted as signaling Trump’s intent to reorganize Iran into a pro-American state through the peace negotiations.

Analysts suggest that Trump’s simultaneous emphasis on negotiation progress and provocative imagery toward Iran reflects his characteristic “pressure-based negotiation tactics.” Since last month, when both sides entered a ceasefire, Trump has continued to mention ongoing peace talks while also adjusting pressure levels by repeatedly posting harsh statements and synthetic images on social media, such as “Iran’s peace proposal is trash” and “If an acceptable agreement is not reached, we will immediately launch a large-scale attack,” hinting at the possibility of re-attacking Iran.

Iran has also responded with counter-propaganda. According to local media Mehre News Agency, large billboards recently appeared near major roads and overpasses in the capital, Tehran, explicitly stating “Iran’s Five Core Conditions for Ending the War.”

The billboards listed key demands alongside finger gestures: ▲Full lifting of sanctions against Iran ▲Payment of war reparations ▲Recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz ▲Unfreezing of overseas assets ▲Ceasefire on all fronts. Notably, Iran’s uranium enrichment rights—a major issue in nuclear negotiations—were absent from the billboards, drawing attention.
