Two young and talented Liberians (females), Miss Sandra Sando Sombai and Miss Pamela D. Roberts have won separate prestigious awards in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Miss Sandra Sando Sombai won the Queen African World award while Miss Pamela D. Roberts won the Little Queen Africa award.

Speaking to newsman from Lagos, Nigeria via mobile phone on Monday, March 2, 2020; Miss Sombai said 36 African Countries send in the list of their contestants. But the top 16 which included Liberia, Nigeria, Egypt, Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, Burundi, Cameroon, Angola, Ghana and Togo among others went through an online voting process which required money.

According to her, during the online voting process, Liberia began the 11th Country among the 16 Countries to be selected. Out of the top 16 Countries came the top 5 that went to the stage performance including Liberia, Nigeria, Togo, Uganda and Ghana; adding that Liberia came victorious, thereby taking the title of “Queen Africa World”.

“I was in Liberia when my national director in person of Miss Massa Weeks told me about this pageant and then I got prepared, there were 36 Countries that sent in their contestants and then I was one of them form Liberia and we went through the online voting process I was able to become one of the top ten, and we came to Nigeria for the final show and then I won one of the prestigious crowns which is Miss Africa International World,” she stated.

Miss Sombai recounts that as a young lady who has participated in local pageants in Liberia, she thinks the recent event was the best opportunity given her to explore internationally and to put Liberia on the map of pageantry.

She stressed that her consistency and being passionate is what motivated her to have taken the challenge by going against her African counterparts.

Ms. Sandra Sando Sombai explained that winning the prize means a lot for her, for the fact that a Liberian will take up the courage to travel to Nigeria, despite the challenges and individual sponsorship.

This is especially so not only in participating but to wear one of their prestigious crowns.

The Queen Africa World winner at the same time says she does not only want to hold the crown without undertaking an initiative.

As such she will be implementing projects in Liberia beginning with Montserrado and Grand Cape Mount Counties. She stated that as a winner of the crown, one signs a contract to undertake project noting that her one year reign will be characterized by the implementation of her projects in Liberia and Nigeria.

Sandra said one of the things she has been involved with in Liberia is the prioritization of female education promising to continue such activity noting that the crown has already given her the platform to explode more.

Sandra also revealed that this week, she will be visiting orphanage home and underprivileged children in Nigeria.

She used the opportunity to encourage every female to make consistency as their focus point not to think that they cannot do it but to step out of their comfort zones and be consistent to whatever they want to do.

In a related development, little Pamela D. Roberts made her way through winning the “Little Queen Africa” title. It is being reported that Liberia, Egypt, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Nigeria were the top five Countries that went for the stage performance.
