Monrovia– The Liberty Party (LP), a member of President Boakai’s ruling Unity Party Alliance, over the weekend kicked off celebrations marking its 20th anniversary with a series of events that paid homage to its legacy of democratic values and visionary leadership.

At a major event held at the party’s national headquarters in Monrovia, party leaders, supporters, and well-wishers gathered to unveil the official portrait of LP’s founder, the late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine.

A memorial hall dedicated in his name was also inaugurated in his honor.
In a symbolic gesture recognizing key contributors to the party’s growth, the Eugene Fallah Kpaka Conference Room and the Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence Secretariat Office were named after them for their commitment and contributions to the party.

The dedication honored Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the party’s current Political Leader, for her enduring leadership.

Speaking during the ceremony, Senator Karnga-Lawrence paid tribute to Brumskine, describing him as a mentor and visionary whose principles of justice, democracy, and commitment to the rule of law shaped the party’s direction.

“We are grateful for the legacy he left behind, and we remain committed to upholding the values he instilled in this party—good governance, justice, and opportunity for all,” she stated.

Under the theme “Liberty Party: 20 Years of Democratic Legacy to Cherish,” the anniversary celebration began with a series of youth-focused events, including a strategic dialogue and the launch of the NKL Youth Dialogue platform.

This initiative aims to foster intellectual exchange, promote reconciliation, and empower young people in politics.

A highlight of the day was a Women’s Queen Contest, designed to promote unity and enhance female participation through a unique birth month-themed competition.

The event also featured the recognition of founding members for their unwavering dedication to the party over the past two decades.

A membership booth was set up to welcome new members and facilitate renewals for existing partisans.

The Liberty Party’s week-long celebrations continue with more activities aimed at reinforcing its commitment to democratic values and national development.
