There is no letup in the number of babies and young women who have come under attack from rapists.

In 2020 rights activists staged a big street protest over the increase in rape cases, prompting President George Weah to declare rape a national emergency. But since then, cases continue to rise.

Last Friday, February 26,2022, a three-year-old girl in the Soul Clinic community was gruesomely raped by a 15-year-old boy.

But in an interview, he said he didn’t commit the act, accusing the uncle of the victim who has been in the constant habit of doing such. It was instead him that the three-year-old survivor said who raped her.

The suspect is currently at the Monrovia Central prison awaiting court trial.

The accused is said to have used his finger in the private part of the child, which caused her to bleed profusely.

On Saturday February 26,2022, another 19-year-old accused her biological father of raping and impregnating her.

According to the survivor, since her step mother walked out of the home, her father made her to be his wife and she is 20 weeks pregnant.

The 19-year-old survivor said she knew that she was pregnant as a result of allegedly being sexually abused by her father, which led her to filing a complaint to the police.

Police later arrested and investigated him and the man is currently being detained at the Monrovia Central prison awaiting court trial.

Another baby girl, who is 2 years nine months old, has been raped by an adult at the ELWA junction area in Monrovia’s Paynesville suburb. The incident happened on Tuesday, March 2, 2022.

The alleged perpetrator has since been arrested and is undergoing investigation.

Over the weekend in Gbarpolu County, a 27-year-old man was arrested and forwarded to court for allegedly raping two minors, ages 4 and 6 in Belle Fasama, Belle district, Gbarpolu county.

According to the mother of the victim, Anthony Nyemah, an owner of a night club, allegedly committed the act, as the children assisted him to do some work.

During the night of the incident, he took the two minors into the room and allegedly sexually assaulted. He allegedly used his penis on the 6-year-old girl, while using his finger in the private part of the 4-year-ol girl.

The mother of the children explained that upon the arrival of the mother, she noticed that both (the minors) were seen exhausted, so she asked them what had happened.

The older kids said to their mother that “Uncle Anthony did rude-rude thing to us,” meaning that he had sexually abused them.

After the two survivors were taken to the Fasama Clinic in the Belle district, test conducted proved that they were actually sexually abused.

He was arrested and forwarded to Bopolu city by police officers. A second test conducted at the Chief Jallah Lone Hospital also proved that the two children were sexually abused.

Suspect Anthony Nyemah has since been forwarded to court and he is currently being incarcerated at the Bopolu Central Prison awaiting court trial.
