Officials said the visit earlier this week to assess investment possibilities in Grand Bassa County, which has the country’s largest seaport and vast natural resources.

The Chinese investors’ visit was organized under theme: “2018 Win – Win Visit to Liberia”.

They were accompanied to Buchanan by Liberian Ambassador to China,  Mr. McKinley Thomas.

Ambassador Thomas said the partnership will help the Chinese will yield to investment in infrastructural development, job opportunities, among other things that will benefit citizens and residents of Grand Bassa County.

The meeting was held on Sunday at the Buchanan City Hall on the Fairgrounds in Buchanan.

While in Bassa, the Chinese Business delegation visited Edina City, German Camp, Flourmill, Grand Bassa Community College and the Port of Buchanan.

A host of officials held talks with the Chinese investors, including the City Mayor of Buchanan Moses Haynes, Development Superintendent Flee Glay, the Representatives of Electoral Districts one, two and three as well as Senators Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence and Jonathan L. Kaipay.

The Chairman of the Legislative Caucus of Grand Bassa County Thomas Alexander Goshua thanked the Chinese entrepreneurs for the partnership and pledged the Caucus’ support in working with them for the growth and development of the county.

The Chinese business delegation’s visist came as a result of Senator Kaipay’s visit to the People’s Republic of China at the end of the 2018 Grand Bassa Trade and Investment Conference last April.

During Senator Kaipay’s visit to China, the city of Pingdingshan in Henan Province, China and the city of Buchanan signed a “Letter of Intent” to establish a sister city relationship.

A dispatch from Liberia’s Embassy in Beijing last month Senator Kaipay, signed on behalf of Buchanan city, while the deputy mayor of the People’s Government of Pingdingshan City, Mr. Liu Wenhai signed on behalf of his city at a ceremony in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.
