Circuit Court Orders Justice, Finance And Health Ministers Arrested

Amid Contempt Proceedings

TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia-In contempt proceedings, the Sixth Judicial Civil Law Court “A” has issued a writ of arrest on the Justice, Finance and Health Ministers for their failure to enforce court judgement.

The Writ was issued on Monday, August 7, 2023 by the Court for allegedly defying a judgement of the Court since last April.

The writ of arrest reads,  YOU ARE HEREBY COMMANDED TO ARREST THE LIVING BODY (IES) OF THE MINISTERS OF JUSTICE, FINANCE & DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND HEALTH &SOCIAL WELFARE, ALL THEIR DEPUTY MINISTERS, AND ASSISTANT MINISTERS AND HAVE HIM BROUGHT BEFORE THE SIXTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COURT FOR

MONTSERRADO COUNTY, REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, SITTING IN ITS JUNE TERM A. D.

2023, AND WHEN ARRESTED AFTER WORKING HOURS THEY SHOULD BE DETAINED AT THE NEAREST POLICE STATION UNTIL THE NEXT DAY AND BE BROUGHT BEFORE THIS COURT TO SHOW CAUSE IF ANY, WHY THEY SHOULD NOT BE HELD IN

CONTEMPT OF COURT FOR THEIR REFUSAL TO COMPLY TO THIS COURT’S JUDGMENT

AND MANDATE DATED APRIL 18, 2023.

COUNTY SITTING IN ITS YOU ARE FURTHER COMMANDED TO MAKE YOUR OFFICIAL RETURNS ENDORSED ON THE BACK OF THE ORIGINAL COPY OF THIS WRIT OF ARREST AS TO THE MANNER AND FORM OF ITS SERVICE AND FILE SAME IN MY OFFICE ON OR BEFORE THE ABOVE-MENTIONED DATE.

AND FOR SO DOING, THIS SHALL CONSTITUTE YOUR LEGAL AND SUFFICIENT

AUTHORITY.

HENCE, HAVE YOU THERE AND THAN THIS WRIT OF ARREST:

This Court says, a judgment was rendered on the 18th Day of April, A.D. 2023, in which this Court send a mandate to the Respondent/Defendant to comply with the said judgment.

Due to the refusal of Respondent to comply

with the judgment and mandate of this Court, a Bill of Information was filed on the 11th Day of May 2023, heard, and the determination made

in which this Court held the Respondent in Contempt, to show cause, if any, why they should not be held in Contempt of Court and why said Respondent have refused to comply with this Court judgment and mandate. The Respondent again refused, neglected and failed to appear as requested by this Court up to and including today’s date.

Therefore, the act of the Respondent is disrespectful to this Court by their refusal to comply with its mandate, the Clerk of this Court is ordered to issue a WRIT OF ARREST for Respondent Ministers, all Deputy Ministers, and Assistant Ministers, to be arrested, and brought to this Court and show cause, if any, why they cannot be held in Contempt of Court and be incarcerated for their disrespect and

disregard for the rule of law. AND IT IS HEREBY SO ORDERED.
