French Development Agency To Begin Operations In Liberia

Liberia and France have signed an agreement for the establishment of the French Development Agency to mainly allow the operation for the implementation of development and technical service in the country.

The agreement, which is believed to be in the tone of ten million u’s dollars States dollars, was signed by Samuel Tweah   and French Ambassador Michael Roux, Christopher Cotter, the France Development Agency. Lexander Foulon, Expertise France signed on behalf of the French government.

Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, Finance Mr. Tweah, thanked the French government for its assistance to the Liberian government and people.

“This now brings French assistance to Liberia to 50 million United States Dollars’” Minister Twaeh said, adding: “we hope that France continues to increase its assistance, especially with the good relationship existing between Presidents George Weah and Emmanuel Marcon.”

For his part, the French Ambassador to Liberia, Michael Roux, assured the Liberian government of France continued assistance in the human capacity a development in the country.

According to him, 20 Liberian students are currently benefitting from scholarship project under this project already at the Institute of National Polytechnic Houphouet Boigny in Yamoussoukro, Cote’ D’Ivoire.

Also speaking, the Representative of Proparco, Ange-Pascal Kouassi, said the agreement will help enhance finance assistance such as financing organizations in Liberia

Statements of support and assurances also came from Christopher Cottet, Country Director of the French Development Agency.  Alexander Foulon, the Coordinator of Expertise France also expressed their readiness to work with the Liberian government in making sure that the agreement works.  The program was graced by Information Minister, Leggerhood Rene, Dee Delance , President of the Liberia Band for Development and Investment; Deputy Finance Minister for Debt management, Augustus Flomo, among others.
