A 32-year-old woman identified as Victoria Tarkah has been allgedly tortured by a group of young people in Ylatwen community of Wedabo District.

The tragic incident after being accused of Witchcraft activities, but what the lady was accused for is yet to be independently establish by police authorities in Grand Kru County.

According to the County Detachment of the Liberia National Police, the incident occurred on September 8,2025, where the woman was discovered dead on the highway, about miles away from Jlatwen Town of Electoral District Number One.

The Police confirmed that they received a cell phone call from the Allison Bloh, the General Town Chief of Ylatwen Township, who reported that Victoria Tarkah unconscious body was discovered in the outsike of the town.

A source hinted the Liberia News Agency that those that allgedly tortured the 32-year-old woman to death were arrested by the community Watch Forum, But it was later reported that the suspects escaped raising suspiciousness amongst community dwellers in Jlatwen, with some accusing the watch forum members of facilitating their escaped.

Police authorities in Barclayville informed newsman that those suspects that committed the acts are, Abednego Dweh, Boniface Nyengar, and Bernord Kuoh, but are currently at large.

Grand Kru County Police Detachment said, predicated on the information, a team of Police officers headed by inspector Brownstone Hne was dispatched to the incident scene.

Upon the team arrival in Wedabo Ylatwen, there were no suspects available, the team tried inquiring from the town chief about the victim ware about, he pretended he no nothing of what was going on and refused to give information to the Police, none of the community member could provide any substantial information to help the Police investigations.

LNP disclosed that based on the actions of the town, the Police decided to do her own background investigation and during Police background investigation, the Police was able to discovered an unconscious body of a female lying right behind the Town in the bush. And it said they decided to inquire from the town chief to know who was lying unconscious and the family of the person and the town chief instructed the district coroner to take the Police to the family of the victim.

The team met  with the victim family, tried Inquiring from the victim mother, Ms. Sophia Klah,  she  clearly told the Police that, On Saturday Sept. 6 2025 at  about 10pm, a group of young men from Ylatwen township came to her house knocking on her door requesting her to open the door that they want her to turn her daughter, victim VICTORIA over to them that she is a witchcraft  in a violent action and she asked them for what reasons she should turned her daughter over to them and they responded by saying, she’s a witch and she tried to find out to know who send them to come for her daughter and  their respond was, if you keep asking us questions, we will move on you and according to her, the way she saw their actions, she was afraid and they forcedly entered the house and took  VICTORIA away and did to victim what they wanted to do.

She further told the Police that, she couldn’t identify any of them but one Lady who was on the scene identified as FANNIE KLAH who was also in the house that night, was able to identify one BERNORD KUOH, who is a resident of Ylatwen.

A 15-member coroner jury was instituted by the Wedabo District Coroner along with a medical practitioner to examine the unconscious body after the medical team pronounced the victim was dead.

After their careful examination on victim body, they reported that there was a foul played into the death of victim VICTORIA she died as a result of poisoned.

The County Police authorities turned over the remains body to the family for burial while investigation continues.

The police further asked the county superintendent for permission to probe some local authority of the District.  The police told newsman that they are currently investigating Town Chief Allison Bloh and paramount Chief Jeh Simbo, including three Community Watch Forum members. They are Anthony Dahn, Bernard Jeh and Jackson Nyonoon all residents of Jlatwen Community.

Meanwhile, Regina Walker, the County Ministry of Gender Coordinator has condemned the acts, is calling for justice to serve the victim. She said the Ministry’s seriously frowned on such actions meted against women and children.
