As Man, 43, Sent To Court

Police in Monrovia have arrested, investigated, charged and sent court a 43- year-old man for allegedly murdering his girlfriend for refusing to give him an empty plastic container, as Garmah Never Lomo Reports.
Jealousy is said to have been at the root of the intent of Francis Koryan who is now behind bars after being investigated and charged with the crime of murder for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Hannah Koiyan near Monrovia.
This and others were dug out from Police investigation.
Investigative Findings:
Having carefully probed into this case and carried out crime scene reconstruction, the below facts were established as to wit:
➤ That indeed defendant Francis Koiyan committed the Crime of Murder, involving his fiancée late Hannah Koiyan.
➤ That defendant Francis Koiyan and his girlfriend Hannah Karto (the late) were cohabitating due to jealousy.
➤ That defendant Francis Koiyan’s action towards his girlfriend was cruel, intentional and totally indifference to the value of human life.
➤ That after committing the gruesome act, defendant Koiyan fled into hiding but he was later located in Louisiana Township and arrested by the Police.
CONCLUSION:
According to the police charge sheet, Defendant Francis Koiyan age, 43yrs, and a resident of Zeor’s Town, Mambahn District, Lower Margibi County, was arrested in Louisiana Township, in violation of Chapter 14, Sub-Chapter A & B, and Section 14.20 & 14.1 of the revised Penal Law of the Republic of Liberia and charged with the commission of the Offences of, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND MURDER, for purposely, knowingly and intentionally taking away the life of his girlfriend Hannah Karto (deceased), said incident which occurred at Zeor’s Town, Lower Margibi County on February 6, 2025 about 10:00AM.
Defendant Koiyan fled the crime scene minutes after committing said crime, but he was later arrested at Louisiana Township, Montserrado County on March 27, 2025, based upon a tip-off.
INVESTIGATION:
During Police investigation conducted into the circumstances surrounding the death of Hannah Karto, age, 42yrs, of the residence of Zeor’s Town, Lower Margibi County, it was revealed that, on February 6, 2025 about 09hrs, the victim/deceased Hannah Karto decided leaving her home in Zeor’s Town to go in the bush to buy her market (palm wine), but her boyfriend Francis Kolyan insisted that he was following her wherever she goes, because she was having his palm wine container and refusing to give it to him.
He followed her (Hannah Karto in the bush and while on their way, he attacked the victim and started hitting her, while she was going with punches until she fell onto the ground.
When she collapsed to the ground, defendant Francis Koiyan tied her both hands at her back with her lapper and also placed her head in her under garment (backing) and abandoned her in the bush and went away.
However, community dwellers of Zeor’s Town were informed by market women who heard the shouting voice of the victim in the bushes, as she was crying for rescue.
Investigation further revealed that dwellers of Zeor Town, went in the bushes, based upon the information from the market women, and in the process found the unconscious
body of the victim (Hannah Karto lying in pool of blood.
Defendant Koiyan was searched for in the bushes, but he was nowhere to be found. Family members of the victim were instructed by the Police to preserve her body as investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the Crime Against Person Unit (CAPU) was informed and a team of investigators was set up that responded at the T. Wah Bedell Funeral Home and conducted inquest on said deceased’s body which was observed with a deep laceration at the back of the head, with several other bruises observed on her (deceased).
The deceased’s body was released onto the family by the Montserrado County Coroner and said body has since been interred by them, while the investigation was ongoing.
Defendant Francis Koiyan age, 43yrs, also a resident of Zeor’s Town was located in Louisiana Township, and was arrested on March 27, 2025, based upon Police-tip off.
During interview/investigation with defendant Francis Koiyan regarding his alleged connection into the death of Hannah Karto, he admitted to his involvement and stated that, he killed his girlfriend Hannah Karto; giving several reasons that prompted his action and stated that he was provoked by his fiancée.
Witnesses that were spoken to concerning the incident blamed defendant Francis Koiyan and accused him of being heartless, due to the manner he killed his girlfriend.
CONCLUSION:
In view thereof, this investigation has resolved to charge suspect Francis Koiyan (defendant) with AGGRAVATED ASSAULT AND MURDER, in violation of Chapter 14, sub chapter A, and Section 14.1 of the revised Penal Law of the Republic of Liberia, pending court trial.
Meanwhile, defendant Koiyan has sent to the Monrovia Central prison by Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice pending trial.
