MARGIBI COUNTY, Liberia– In an intensive step towards combating the drug epidemic in Liberia, several officers from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Margibi County Detachments have successfully completed an intensive training program aimed at improving their skills in identifying high-narcotic substances.
The initiative reflects the agency’s ongoing commitment to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in their fight against illegal drugs.
Mr. Alex Flomo, head of the LDEA’s Margibi County Detachment, commended the training program and emphasized its importance in bolstering the capabilities of DEA officers during drug operations. “This training will greatly enhance our ability to identify and address drug-related issues in our communities,” Flomo added.
He also called on the Government headed by President Joseph Numah Boakai’s to increase support and resources particularly Mobility for the LDEA to further strengthen their efforts.
The training is part of a broader campaign titled “Say No to Drugs,” designed to raise awareness and combat drug trafficking in Liberia. Commander Flomo welcomed the government’s focus on drug enforcement and the importance of continuous training for officers in the field.
In a related development, on August 20, 2025, the Ministry of Health imposed a nationwide moratorium on Tramadol and shisha as a direct response to the escalating drug crisis. Flomo underscored the necessity of robust implementation of this policy by the Margibi County Detachment, affirming that stringent measures would be established to monitor entertainment venues across Margibi and surrounding areas.
As Liberia grapples with a growing drug epidemic, the LDEA’s commitment to training, community engagement, and strict enforcement measures will play a vital role in safeguarding public health and promoting a drug-free environment.
