BUCHANAN, Liberia- Police in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County have charged and forwarded to court a 26-year-old man, Alphanso Lokor for allegedly killing his wife, Ruth Noami in district #2, in the wake of an upsurge in gender based violence.
The alleged suspect was charged with murder last Wednesday by the police detachment in this southern county.
James Yekeku, Commander of the Crime Services Division of Grand Bassa County told wwww.newspublictrust.com that police investigation clearly established that the alleged suspect severely beat on his wife until she instantly died on the scene.
The incident occurred on Monday, Feb 15, 2021 in Koosing Town, district one, Grand Bassa County where the alleged murder suspect was arrested and brought to Buchanan for investigation.
According to police investigation, when the alleged suspect noticed that his wife has died, he immediately escaped from the scene and ran to the residence of his oldest brother for fear of being attacked by angry crowd.
The police further said that both of them ran into the bush and there after came to his brother friend’s house where he was arrested.
The deceased is said to be 25 years old and a resident of Koosing Town in the district.
Her remains have been deposited at the funeral home for preservation, as investigation continues, while the suspect is presently detained at the central prison compound in Upper Buchanan pending court trial.
