KAKATA, Liberia- Amidst the economic hardship affecting all sectors of the Liberian society, a member of the 54th Legislature and Margibi County District #4 Representative has provided L$400,000.00 to Community Watch Forum, which assist the Liberia National Police in curbing crimes.

This assistance comes in the wake of serious constraints being experienced by Watch Forums in the district and other parts of Liberia.

The amount was presented to sixteen Communities in electoral district four since May 2019. It can be recalled that Rep. Ben A. Fofana in April of this year committed himself to giving L$80,000 to the 16 Communities on a monthly basis in order to buttress the efforts of the Forum in keeping watch over the Communities at night.

In continuation of the gesture, Rep. Fofana through his Special Assistant, Jerry Sumo recently presented L$80,000 to the Chairman of all Chairpersons identified as Emmanuel Sackie for onward presentation to his colleagues.

Making the presentation on behalf of his boss, Mr. Sumo said despite of the Salary harmonization Rep. Fofana stands by his commitment to helping to empower the Community Watch Forum in the District.

“As he rightly said to you people that what comes to him as a salary he has stand firm to share with you people because he is very grateful to the people of Margibi County, to the people of Electoral District #4 and to our various Community Chairs,” he said.

Mr. Sumo said that the citizens of the District and the County are the heartbeats of Rep. Fofana and he is concern about their welfare especially in the area of security.

He indicated that when there is a high level of criminal rate in the Communities, the various quarters and the County at large, it is always claiming the attention of the Lawmaker.

The Community Watch Forum has been doing its best in terms of providing safeguard for the people.

Mr. Sumo then said it is their hope that the contribution from his Boss will continue extended thanks to leaders of the various Communities for providing security for the people on their own initiative under the supervision of the Liberia National Police.

For his part, the Chairman of all chairpersons Emmanuel Sackie thanked the District four Lawmaker for identifying with them. If there were additional five-six leaders in the County providing similar support to the Forum, he believes that the Communities will be crime and drugs free, the Community Watch Forum official said.

He noted that since April of this year the Lawmaker promised the Forum and begun payment in May of 2019, something he said the Representative is committed to. Mr. Sackie at the same time assured the Representative that the money given them will be used for the purpose intended.
