The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Liberia on Thursday celebrated the 27th Anniversary of Throne Day, marking the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the throne.
The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, senior Liberian government officials, development partners and guests to reflect on Morocco’s achievements and the longstanding friendship between Liberia and the Kingdom.
Speaking at the July 30, 2026 celebration, Morocco’s Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Lahoucine Rahmounie, described Throne Day as a moment of pride for the Moroccan people and an opportunity to reflect on the country’s progress over the past three decades.
He said Morocco’s achievements were the result of strategic leadership, effective governance, institutional efficiency and a commitment to stability, stressing that these factors have enabled the Kingdom to remain resilient amid regional and global challenges.
According to him, Morocco has recorded sustained economic growth, with the country’s economy expanding by approximately 4.9 percent in 2025, while growth is expected to remain at the same level or improve in 2026.
The Moroccan diplomat highlighted major gains in agriculture, renewable energy, manufacturing and aviation, noting that the Kingdom has become Africa’s leading exporter of automobiles, producing nearly one million vehicles annually. He added that exports from the automotive and aviation sectors now account for more than 40 percent of Morocco’s total exports, surpassing phosphates.
He further emphasized Morocco’s growing role in renewable energy, electric battery production and green hydrogen, describing these sectors as central to the country’s industrial transformation and long-term economic strategy.
Mr. Rahmounie also underscored Morocco’s commitment to peace, stability and institutional development, saying these have strengthened investor confidence and positioned the Kingdom as a preferred destination for business and innovation.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the Government of Liberia, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cllr. Jeddi Armah, conveyed congratulations from President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., the Government and people of Liberia, as well as Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Royal Family and the people of Morocco.
Cllr. Armah described the occasion as an opportunity to celebrate the enduring bond between the Moroccan people and their institutions while recognizing the Kingdom’s continued development and aspirations.
He noted that Liberia and Morocco enjoy a longstanding friendship built on mutual respect, African solidarity and a shared commitment to cooperation that advances the interests of both countries and contributes to the development of the African continent.
The Deputy Minister said bilateral relations have continued to expand in areas including education, agriculture, trade, investment, technical assistance, infrastructure development and institutional capacity building, expressing Liberia’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Morocco.
The celebration concluded with renewed commitments from both countries to deepen diplomatic relations, promote economic cooperation and work together toward shared prosperity and sustainable development.
