The UL Staffer Is Charged With Criminal Offenses Including Armed Robbery And Criminal Attempt To Commit Murder
TEMPLE OF JUSTICE, Monrovia–The Liberia National Police (LN)) today, Monday, August 11th, 2025 charged and sent to court, Fobay Emery Johnson for alleged armed robbery at the Eco Bank on 11th Street in Sinkor, after his arrest and investigation, as Garmah Never Lomo reports.
The alleged armed robbery at Eco Bank was staged last Wednesday, August 6, 2025 defendant Johnson, who is said to be a staffer at the University of Liberia. He was charged moments after a live press conference held by the Police spokesperson Cecelia Clarke at the police headquarters in Monrovia.
According to the Police Spokesperson, Cecelia Clarke, following the incident, defendant Fobay Emery Johnson was arrested, acquainted with his constitutional rights, thoroughly investigated and subsequently charged with the criminal offenses of Armed Robbery and Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, which are in violations of Chapters 10 and 15, Sub. Chapter-C, Section 15.32 and Section 10.1 of the revised Penal code of the Republic of Liberia during which time he entered the Private Banking room, Ecobank Liberia Limited, 11th Street, Sinkor Branch, placed victim Angeline L. Sillah under gun point and demanded the money that she had in her office and choked her in her office chair while trying to Scotch Tape her mouth.
CASE HISTORY
On Thursday August 7, 2025 at 1300hrs, victim Angeline L. Sillah, an Accountant at the Ecobank, Liberia Limited and resident of Police Academy Community, Paynesville surfaced at the office of the Anti-Robbery Unit/CSD and reported Robbery in which she explained that on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 0945hrs, while she was in her office at the Ecobank, Liberia Limited, 11th Street, Sinkor Branch, an unknown man entered her office wearing a Nose Mask and a Marvin Gaye hat, placed her under gun point and demanded her to turn over the money that she had in her office and while he was trying to tape her mouth and tie her, she tussled with him at which time she pressed the alarm bottom and her colleague went to her rescue and arrested suspect Fobay Emery Johnson and turned him over to the Liberia National Police for investigation.

In furtherance thereof, Madam Clarke said, on Wednesday August 6, 2025, defendant Fobay Emery Johnson who was arrested in connection to said crime (Armed Robbery) was informed of his Miranda Rights and and provided his written statement was represented by his legal counsel in person of Cilr. Jura A.Lynch.
POLICE INVESTIGATION
The investigation seeks to determine whether on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at 0900hrs, while victim Angeline L. Sillah was in her office at Ecobank Liberia Limited located 11th Street, Sinkor, she was attacked by an unknown man armed with a single barrel shot gun in demand of money that she had in her office.
The investigation further seeks to determine whether, or not on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at 0955hrs, suspect Fobay Emery Johnson entered Ecobank, Liberia Limited, located on 11th Street, Sinkor and attacked victim Angeline L. Sillah in her office.
The investigation also aims to establish whether suspect Fobay Emery Johnson was in possession of a single barrel shotgun and the reason for being in possession of said firearm.
Additionally, the investigation seeks to determine whether on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 0900hrs, suspect Fobay Emery Johnson actually entered Ecobank Liberia Limited, 11th Street,
Sinkor Branch, the private Banking room and attacked victim Angeline L. Sillah with a single barrel shot gun demanding the money that she had in the office.
The investigation further considered whether on August 6, 2025 at 0955hrs, when suspect Fobay Emery Johnson and victim the chairs located in her office. Angeline L. Sillah were tussling in her office, he choked her on.
INVESTIGATIVE FINDINGS
The investigation established the following as to wit: Meanwhile, in view of the above mentioned, the investigation established that on Wednesday August 6, 2025 approximately 0900hrs, while victim Angeline L. Sillah was in her office (Ecobank, Liberia Limited, 11th Street, Sinkor Branch) private Banking room), Ecobank, Liberia Limited located 11th Street, Sinkor, suspect Fobay Emery Johnson entered her office, closed the office door and pointed a single barrel shot gun at her in demanding money that she had in her office.
Further, at approximately 0955hrs on the same date, suspect Fobay Emery Johnson entered Ecobank, Liberia Limited, 11th Street, Sinkor Branch, and proceeded to the Private Banking room. He removed a single barrel shot gun from his black back bag and pointed it at the victim Angeline L. Sillah demanding the money in her possession.
During investigative interview conducted with suspect Fobay Emery Johnson, he stated that in June 2025, while in Ganta, Nimba County, with friends, he purchased a single barrel shot gun along with three rounds of ammunition for sixty United states dollars ($60.USD), claiming that it was his personal protection.
The investigation also reviewed CCTV footage from the Ecobank, Liberia Limited, 11th Street, Sinkor Branch, which showed suspect Fobay Emery Johnson entering the Private Banking room wearing a Nose Mask and a black Marvin Gaye Hat. Upon entry, he closed the office door, retrieved the single barrel shot gun from his black Sillah demanding money. back bag, loaded it and pointed it directly at victim Angeline L.

CONCLUSION
In view of the above, coupled with the herein mentioned and the subsequent retrieval of one black back bag, one single barrel shot gun, three single barrel rounds, one black Pepper Spray, one Scotch Tape, one Nose Mask and one Marvin Gaye hat from suspect Fobay Emery Johnson, the investigation has resolved to charge suspect Fobay Emery Johnson with the criminal offenses of Armed Robbery, Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder and Possession and Sale of Physical Objects for Lethal Use which are in violation of Chapters 10, 15 and 17, Sub. Chapter C, Section 15.32, Section 10.1 and Section 17.11 of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia and forwarded to court for prosecution.
