As Many Inmates Children Have Been Forgotten

The Prison Fellowship Liberia with funding from a United States-based Camp David International has organized a camp for 350 prisoners’ children in Marshall, Margibi County for a week-long celebration of the festive seasons.
The fellowship’s Country Director, Reverend Francis Kollie said while a vast number of other children are celebrating the festive seasons, children of prisoners have been forgotten; because some of their parents are behind bars.
Addressing a press conference in Paynesville recently, Rev. Kolle disclosed that it is based on the background that PRL in collaboration with the United States-based Camp David International resolved camp 350 prisoners’ children in order to show them love that there are people who cares.
According to Reverend Kollie, the children were brought from all over the country and converged in a location (not disclosed) for stories telling about Christmas and others, playing games, and some distinguish personalities from the county will be invited to motivate them .
“Seventy volunteers have been recruited to serve counselors and mentors for these children between the ages of five and 20 years; while the Samaritan Purse will be making medical practitioners to provide medication” he said adding: “caterers have also been hired to ensure that they fed three times a day .
Reverend Kollie pointed out that the Samaritan Purse is assisting with people who will provide medication in case of any illness is report on the children and the volunteers during the duration of the camp.
“This exercise will cost the PFL costs about 50,000 United States Dollars and it solely funded by the United States-based Camp David International.”
“We are expected some distinguish personalities from the Camp David International to visit Liberia to at least speak purposely to also encourage the children that all is not lost.”
On the eve of the new year, the PFL is expected to hold a birthday party for all the children of prisoners especially for the many who couldn’t celebrate their birthdays due to the incarceration of their parents.
