Sanniquellie gets new USAID funded Water Treatment Plant

Sanniquellie, Liberia-The people of Sanniquellie in Liberia’s northeastern Nimba  County now have a new Water Treatment Plant funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Built by the company, United Infrastructure Project UIP, the new water treatment Sanniquellie Water Treatment Plant to the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation earlier this week.

The technical handover ceremony kicked off through a guided tour and inspection of community water collection points that will supply Water to community people.

Mr. Maxson Nyan Binda, USAID Chief Engineer appreciated the contracting company UIP and the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation for the smooth implementation of the water treatment plant in the city.

The handover ceremony brought to two, the total number of successful implementation of the Water Treatment Plant in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount and Sanniquellie Nimba Counties while awaiting the completion of the Lofa project.

During the handover ceremony in Nimba’s capital city, Sanniquellie, Mr. Binda stressed the need for maintenance and protection of the water facilities.

He said if these water facilities are maintained and protected they will keep supplying safe drinking water to community dwellers in Sanniquellie City at an affordable cost.

The USAID Chief Engineer further indicated that water is life and as such the county administration in collaboration with the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation should pay keen attention to the maintenance and safe guard of the entire water facilities in Sanniquellie City.

The Country Manager of the United Infrastructure Project (UIP), Mr. Sergie Cutad thanked USAID in keeping up with the contractual agreement.

Mr. Cutad said the implementation process of the Sanniquellie Water Treatment Plant and its accessories   went all well with USAID and the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation.

The program was attended by the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation’s Deputy Managing Director for Administration, Mr. Mouseri Momo, Mr. Raily Myers Nimba County Development Superintendent, Mr. Joseph Torlon County Development Engineer, Madam Moima Kamara City Mayor Sanniquellie City, amongst others.
