SPORT: Lone Star Forward, Sam Jackson Withdraws From Upcoming Friendlies

Liberia Senior National Team Player and forward, Sam Jackson of LISCR FC has immediately withdrawn from the upcoming international friendlies with Mauritania and Libya June.

Jackson’s withdrawal from the squad comes despite Coach Peter Butler’s inclusion of the Shipping Boys of LISCR FC striker Sam Jackson as part of his 27-men squad for the upcoming friendlies in preparations for Liberia World Cup Qualifiers matches on 23 May.

The Lone Star of Liberia will take on Mauritania on 11 June and Libya on 14 Libya in Tunis, Tunisia.

Coach Peter Butter is to announce his final squad on 5 June through a post-match conference at the headquarters of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) at the ATS in Central Monrovia.

“Always a special feeling to represent the red, white and blue. I am honored to be shortlisted, unfortunately I can’t be with the team due to personal reasons I wish the team all the best in the upcoming games,” Jackson explained.

Jackson, the young and energetic playmaker was recently part of the senior national team that participated in an international friendly with Saudi Arabia U-23 in Riyadh on 27 and 30 March 2021, with Liberia losing the first leg 3-2 with the return leg ending in a goalless draw.
