A dramatic late header from Lahai Brima secured a crucial point for Thunder FC in a 1-1 draw against FC Quincy in the first leg of the LFA–Margibi Sub-Association 3rd Division League Championship. The match was played on April 26 at the Nancy B. Doe Sports Stadium in Kakata.

Both sides delivered a tightly contested first half, creating several chances but failing to break the deadlock. Solid defending from both backlines ensured a goalless opening 45 minutes.

After the restart, FC Quincy found the breakthrough in the 73rd minute through their in-form striker, Bill Harris, who gave the home side a 1-0 lead.

With time running out, Thunder FC pushed forward and took control of the midfield. Their persistence paid off in the 83rd minute when Lahai Brima rose above the defense to head home a well-delivered ball, leveling the score and rescuing a valuable away draw.

Bill Harris’ goal marked his 14th of the season in 12 appearances across all competitions—13 in the league and one in the Championship Grand Final—highlighting his impressive form for FC Quincy.

With the tie finely balanced, both teams will now prepare for the decisive second leg, scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at the Unification Sports Pitch in Smell No Taste. The winner will be crowned overall champion of the 2025–2026 LFA Margibi Sub-Association 3rd Division League.

Regardless of the final outcome, both FC Quincy and Thunder FC have already secured qualification for the upcoming National 3rd Division Playoffs, set to take place in May, with Grand Cape Mount County expected to host the competition.

FC Quincy reached the championship after winning the Upper Sub-Committee League with 29 points from 12 matches (9 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss). Thunder FC matched that record, claiming the Lower Sub-Committee title with the same 29 points from 12 games.
