KAKATA, Liberia– Margibi County Electoral District #4 Representative, Hon. Emmanuel O. Yarh, has outlined his major achievements in three and a half years of leadership, describing his tenure as one of constant engagement, tangible development, and advocacy for his people.
Speaking over the weekend during a massive citizen engagement meeting held in Kakata, the District #4 lawmaker highlighted his continued engagement with China Union-affected communities in the district.
Addressing hundreds of citizens, community leaders, women groups, and youth, Rep. Yarh disclosed that he is holding serious consultations with fellow lawmakers, including Hon. Foday Fahnbulleh of Bong County District #7, regarding the China Union Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).
“Through my advocacy, China Union through the Mineral Development Agreement over the years has allotted scholarships for students of District #4 including affected communities. But this is not enough,” Rep. Yarh declared.
The Margibi lawmaker made a strong call for the revisitation of the MDA, which currently gives Margibi only 25% of benefits while 50% goes to Bong County.
“China Union is currently operating in Margibi County, on our land, affecting our people. It is unjust for Margibi to receive 25% while 50% is allotted to Bong County. We are demanding that the 50% that is currently going to Bong should come to Margibi. Our people must benefit from what comes from their soil,” Hon. Yarh stressed.
MASSIVE SUPPORT TO EDUCATION
Making emphasis on his support to education, Rep. Yarh announced that his district office has presented a Starlink internet device to Lango Lippaye High School and is fully taking care of the monthly recharge. He noted that several other high schools in District #4 will soon benefit from the same initiative.
“We cannot talk about quality education without internet in this digital age. We have started with Lango Lippaye and we will extend it to other schools. I believe in investing in the brains of our children,” he said.
HONORING COMMUNITY HEROES, SUPPORTING KAKATA CITY
During the colorful engagement, over fifty community leaders were certificated and honored for their excellent performance and contribution to the growth and development of their respective communities in District #4.
In another major move to address sanitation in the county capital, Rep. Yarh presented a fairly used pickup to the Kakata City Corporation (KCC) for waste disposal.
Kakata City Mayor, Hon. Gbarngawoe E. Seyboe, who received the pickup, lauded Rep. Yarh’s effort:
> “This is what leadership is about. Hon. Yarh has once again shown that he is a partner to the development of Kakata City. This pickup will greatly help our waste management efforts.”
MODERN DISTRICT OFFICE, EARTH-MOVING EQUIPMENT
The “Talk and Do” lawmaker, as he is affectionately called, told the gathering that for the first time in history, District #4 can now boast of a modern district office, which will be dedicated soon.
He further announced that through his office’s push, the district now has two earth-moving machines, including a dump truck, to carry out development activities.
Taking a swipe at his critics, Rep. Yarh said:
“I call on my critics to stop the empty talk and rather follow my footsteps. Let them show what they have done for this district. Our work is speaking for itself.”
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT: L$400,000 TO TORNOFAPOLUE
In a related development yesterday in Lakay-Ta Township, Rep. Yarh supported the Tornofapolu Women’s Group, one of the largest women’s groups in the township, with a cash contribution of *L$400,000.00* as his initial personal support toward the growth, empowerment, and progress of the women.
The women, in excitement, praised the lawmaker for his continued dedication to the district.
One citizen at the event said:
“Let me also add my voice to the many voices across District #4 to say thank you, Hon. Emmanuel Yarh, for your continued dedication, commitment, and supportive leadership to the people you represent. Everywhere your people see you, there are smiles and excitement. Your commitment to your constituents continues to speak for itself.”
The engagement ended with renewed hope among citizens of District #4 that their lawmaker is delivering on his promises.
