ArcelorMittal Reports No Injuries In Train Crash On Its Rail Track

Incident On Rail Track: No Injuries And No Threat To The Environment

Buchanan, June 14, 2020 – ArcelorMittal Liberia reports a train derailment that happened around 4:15 am GMT 13th June 2020.

A train with 66 wagons loaded with iron ore and attached to one of the company’s locomotives partially derailed enroute from Tokadeh to Buchanan at km 205 (Zuluyee) Nimba County. Fortunately, there were no injuries or serious damage to the environment as a result of the accident.

An investigation has commenced into possible mechanical failure or malfunction on one of the wagons. Rail operations at ArcelorMittal Liberia have been temporarily suspended and recovery teams have been mobilized.
