At long last, the big corruption trial involving Senator Varney Sherman, former House Speaker Alex Tyler and other past and present Liberian government officials is over, with all of them being cleared of bribery in the US$950,000 Sable Mining case.

The verdict was handed down a short while ago by the Judge of the Criminal Court ‘C’ at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia, Peter Gbeneweleh on Tuesday, July 30, 2019.

The defendants were accused of illegally trying to change the country’s procurement law for the company to enable the company to exploit the Wologisi Mountain in Lofa County, following an investigation by the London-based human rights campaign group, Global Witness.

Details will follow subsequently from Reporter Garmah Never Lomo from the Temple of Justice;.
