Cracking down on crimes in Kakata: Police arrest 40 alleged Criminals

Kakata, Liberia-Police have apprehended about forty alleged criminals in Kakata City, Margibi County, 73 kilometers east of Liberia’s capital, Monrovia.

Making the disclosure to Journalists in Kakata over the weekend (Saturday July 27, 2019), the Chief Superintendent of Police in Margibi, Sylvester Hina said the 40 persons (males and females) were arrested on the night of Liberia’s 172nd Independence Day.

According to him, the criminals most of whom are males, were arrested from their various locations in Kakata with different substances including marijuana and other harmful substances/objects on the night of July 26.

The Margibi Police Commander asserted that some of the alleged criminals had in their possession scissors, steel rods and knives, among others.

He further explained that the latest arrests are part of the Police seasonal operational plans for the Season, which they institute during every festive season to make the City of Kakata free of criminals.

“Every season we come up with our operational plans, so this one was embedded into our plans to make Kakata City free of criminals for the 26th celebration so we had our Intel planted in the various loca or communities,” the local Police official added.

He at the same time revealed that 37 of the 40 alleged criminals are males, while three are females. The Police Commander stated that the 40 persons are currently undergoing screening and thereafter will be processed and sent to Court for prosecution.

Already, Mr. Hina disclosed that the Commander of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) that is responsible for handling the issue of drugs has been contacted to get involve with the investigation.

Police Chief Superintendent Hina however, called on people in Margibi to help the Police curb crimes in the County, stating that the security of this area does not only lie with the police.

He noted that those who perpetrate the various crimes in the County reside right within the various Communities.

The Police commander then assured Margibians that the Police operation will continue thereby admonishing them not to be panic, if they see group of men in walking in their communities or hear the sound of the siren adding that it is the police.
