Dismisses Claims Linking Jo Jo  Boakai To Narcotic Trafficking Cartel

‎MONROVIA, Liberia–Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald Tweh has dismissed allegations circulating on social media concerning the alleged involvement of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s son, Joe Boakai, Jr. in ongoing major narcotics investigations.

A viral video circulating on the social media believed to be from a drug cartel pointing accusing fingers at Boakai, Jr. as being in business with drug traffickers connected to the biggest cocaine bust in Liberia in the past weeks.

‎‎But speaking during the Ministry of Information’s regular press briefing in Monrovia on Thursday, Tweh said investigators have uncovered no evidence linking Joe Boakai Jr. to either the US$19.2 million cocaine seizure or the more recent US$317.6 million seizure, emphasizing that both cases remain under active investigation by a joint team of national and international law enforcement agencies.‎

‎The justice minister urged members of the public to avoid making accusations without credible evidence and cautioned against relying on information disseminated by unauthorized sources.‎

‎According to him, the Joint National Security Task Force remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks operating within the country. He stressed that anyone found responsible, irrespective of status, position, or political affiliation, will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.‎

‎Justice MinisterTweh also called on journalists and the general public to exercise professionalism, responsibility, and restraint as authorities continue their investigations into the high-profile cases.
