Trokon Augustus Freeman pays tribute on behalf of the people of River Cess on the occasion marking President Boakai’s 81st birthday
“During his presidential campaign in 2017, President Boakai, then vice president and presidential candidate, made a promise to the people of River Cess: to provide a ferry for use on the Cestos River.
This was not merely a campaign promise; it stemmed from the very real and pressing concerns of the people, where the necessity for a ferry had become a critical issue highlighted by the situation faced by many citizens who risked their lives every day traveling across the Cestos River, often in unstable canoes, between Neegbah and Cestos City.
The lack of safe passage had already resulted in the loss of human lives, which underscored the urgency of the promise he made.

Despite the fact that he failed in his bid to secure the presidency, losing the election to Mr. Weah, who managed to win a substantial majority of votes in River Cess, President Boakai, while in opposition, would go on fulfilling the commitment he had made. Today, that story of citizens losing their lives on the river has changed. Thank you, Mr. President.
Additionally, it is important to acknowledge that the people of River Cess are now connected to the LEC’s electricity grid, which has improved life by providing them with access to a reliable source of electricity. This has opened up new opportunities for development and progress. On behalf of the people of River Cess, we say we’re grateful.
Today, we have all reasons to join the rest of the world in celebrating the remarkable life of President Boakai as he marks his 81st birthday. This milestone serves as a reminder of his enduring legacy of service and commitment to the well-being of the people.
Mr. President, on this special occasion, happy birthday!”
