With just months to kickoff domestic league football in Liberia, Shaita FC has officially completed the full ownership of Orange National League-2nd Division club Tony FC.
Careysburg, the home of Shaita FC on Sunday, 23 July witnessed the partnership agreement between the two parties through a major press conference held.
Addressing the team of Sports Journalists at the signing ceremony in this settlement on the outskirts of Monrovia, former Vice President for Administration Ishamael Willie of Tony FC welcome the media to such historical event.
“I can say to you member of the press after months of speculation about the sales of Tony FC to Shaita FC today we want to inform you officially that it is true that Shaita FC has taken over Tony FC, ” said Willie.
Also addressing Sports Journalists at the signing ceremony, the President of the feeder team and Vice President for Administration of the Club Miss. Telia Urey said that she is indeed grateful for such partnership.
Ms. Urey narrated that such goal of the club is to provide the best of opportunities for the players technically and financially in making sure that they bring out the needed results.
“We are not just coming into the second division league as participants but rather as a major contender to clinch the championship and to gain promotion in the upcoming season or perhaps the next season ” said VPA Urey.
“Our taken over of this club is not just about football but rather giving you a life after fotball ” said Miss Urey.
In separate remarks, the newly CEO of the club, Edwin Urey thanked the management of Tony FC for such partnership while at the same time EC Tony Margibi Deinuka also said that he is overwhelmed of such partnership in which he sees it as a longterm investment between the two families.
At the same time, the Vice President for Administration of Shaita FC named the these individuals as officials of the club.
Those named include:
- CEO – Edwin Urey
- President – Anthony Deinuka
- Vice President for Administration- Telia Urey
- Vice President for Operationss – Ishmael Willie
- Secretary- General – Sampson Fermah
- Assistant Secretary – General- Jerome Kiadi
- Team manager – Theophilus Nimley
- Vice President for player Affairs- Nathaniel Howard
- Financial Secretary- Harvey Holder
Telia Urey’s Shaita reportedly purchased 85% shares of the club while EC Tony Margibi Deinuka holds 15%.
Shiata FC will make their debut in the upcoming Orange National League-2nd Division 2023-2024 League Season.
It is not yet clear as to whether the players are 100% free but from all indication as to the project been proposed by Shiata Football Club as regard to football in the County its seems that bulk of the players may likely be part of such project.
The former Margibi County outfit club Tony FC now called Shaita FC will now have Careysburg at the new home.
In another development, before the major press conference, the feeder team Careysburg club, Shaita FC and Tony FC played to a four-all- draw on Sunday, 23 July at the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg.
The match was an acquaintance match between the two clubs.
